Ironville Gas Field

The Ironville gas field is located near Alfreton in Derbyshire.
Gas was piped underground to the nearby Warwick Energy owned Pye Bridge generating station from where 9 MW of power was supplied to the local electricity network.

Gas production from sandstone layers within the Coal Measures commenced in 2002 following a routine hydraulic fracturing operation to enhance its production capabilities.

The Ironville gas field is now depleted and the well has been abandoned, in line with all environmental requirements, and the site has been restored.
