Bentinck

The Bentinck site commenced operation in July 2001. The site consists of three Deutz reciprocating engine-generators which produce 10.5 MW's of power for supply into the local network.

The primary fuel source for the site is mines gas, also known as coal mine methane (CMM). This gas is naturally produced from the now abandoned Bentinck mine workings, located adjacent to the site.

Prior to the construction of the site the CMM, which is a significant green house gas, was vented to atmosphere. Operation of the Bentinck site therefore converts the CMM into a useful product whilst providing significant environmental benefits.
